The deadline to register for the general election is October 16, 2012. Note that people who are registered and who have voted before are receiving notices that they may not be registered. You can register online here. To submit your registration electronically, you must provide a valid Maryland-issued state ID number or driver’s license number. The signature on file with the MVA will become your official voter registration signature.

2012 Early Voting Sat., Oct. 27 – Thurs., Nov. 1 from 10am to 8pm

General Election Day is Tues., November 6, 2012.

Besides the state referendums listed here, there will be Judges on the ballot. Appellate Circuit Judge Michele D. Hotten, is running for continuance on the second highest court in Maryland and Judge Stuart R. Berger who’s running At Large is also running to continue on the Appellate Circuit. Circuit judges on the ballot – 5 in Prince George’s Co.

You can research the county referendum bill language from the Prince George's County Legislative Information System (LIS), which requires Internet Explorer Version 5.0 or higher or Netscape Version 6.2 or higher, though it did work on my Firefox on Mac. After you submit the bill number (you can copy it off the ballot but delete the parentheses), a Word doc will download.

Candidates forum

The Anne Arundel County branch of the American Association of University Women, the League of Women Voters and the Unitarian Universalist Legislative Ministry on Maryland will host a forum for congressional candidates on Oct. 15.

The candidates are running for the congressional seats in Districts 3 and 4.

In District 3, U.S. Rep. John Sarbanes, D-Baltimore, Republican Eric Knowles and Libertarian Paul Drgos Jr. will participate. The District 4 forum will feature U.S. Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Prince George’s, and her Republican challenger, Faith Loudon.

The forum will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the auditorium of Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. in Severna Park. For more information, call 410-269-0232.
