Prince Georgians give aid to Haitians & Fire victims

Mel Franklin sent this message:

In Honor of MLK Day, Please Join the Haitian Relief Effort

As our nation prepares to celebrate the life and legacy of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 18th, we awoke Wednesday morning to a tragedy of historic proportions only hundreds of miles from the U.S. coast in the nation of Haiti. As you probably know, Haiti was struck by a massive 7.0 earthquake and major aftershocks on Tuesday and over one-hundred thousand are feared lost and millions affected. The Haitian capital, Port-Au-Prince (with more than 1.2 million inhabitants), has been completely devastated by this tragic earthquake. Our hearts and prayers go out to the Haitian people and their relatives in the United States and around the world.

In the spirit of service and sacrifice of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, let's help our Haitian neighbors in their time of extraordinary need. There are many ways that you can help:

To send a donation to the American Red Cross' Haitian Relief Effort, go to: http://american.redcross.org/supporthaiti or text "HAITI" to "90999" and a donation of $10 will be given automatically to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts, charged to your cell phone bill.

To donate to UNICEF's humanitarian efforts for affected Haitian children, go to: http://www.unicefusa.org/haitiquake

Or call UNICEF at 1-800-367-5437.Collapse )
