Black AIDS Day today

Today, February 7th, is the seventh annual National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. This day was established in 1999 when the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Division of HIV/AIDS Prevention (CDC DHAP) funded five national non-profit organizations known then as the Community Capacity Building Coalition (CCBC). The mission of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) is to build capacity, increase awareness, and to participate in and support HIV prevention, care and treatment among African Americans.

The NAACP is committed to stopping HIV/AIDS from further decimating our communities. In keeping with the goal of NBHAAD, the NAACP is calling on all of its members, supporters, and friends to sign the NAACP “It Stops with Me” Pledge and commit to:
